How To: Prevent Data Theft (Pod Slurping) So what is Pod Slurping? It is gaining access to the data on your company network, and downloading it to a device such as the iPod, a USB thumb drive or other portable device. You can bet that nearly everyday, a company customer list, or financial records are being stolen by disgruntled employees. Just imagine what someone can do with your company client list, or customer financial or credit card information. The damage could put you out of business, and possibly on the wrong end of a lawsuit. |
Thankfully there is a new breed of network security software devoted to if not totally eliminating Pod Slurping, then greatly reducing it. A product we use is EndPoint Security from GFi. Of course other solutions are on the market.
